Working in association with the charity "Guide Dogs for the Blind", on Sept 2nd staff and volunteers enjoyed a very interesting and helpful training session from Serge Chapman. This half day session trained all who attended in "sighted guiding" which enables staff to safely guide anyone living with sight loss. Techniques include guiding in towns, on crossings, narrow pavements, coping with street furniture, pedestrians or traffic. Equally guiding indoors included doorways, seating and stairs.
This training resulted in more of Devon in Sight staff and volunteers becoming qualified "Community Sighted Guiders".
Well done to everyone who attended and a big thank you to Serge of "Guide Dogs for the Blind".
