  • Mid Devon Volunteer Support Meeting

    The next Mid Devon Volunteer Support meeting is on Monday January 27th at the Resource Centre Topsham, where Colin Hoskins the Resource Centre Adviser will show you round some of the equipment and explain his role within the organisation. Sue Snell the Mid Devon Volunteer Visiting Service Coordinator will also show the volunteers around the main offices and introduce them to Grahame Flynn the Operations Manager and Jennie Benham the Administration Coordinator.

  • Book Club Meeting

    On Wednesday 29th January we are holding our first Book Club Meeting at The Hayridge Library, Cullompton at 11am. This will be an opportunity for any interested people with sight loss to come along to discuss venues, frequency of meetings, timings, and ultimately the source of the chosen books to be discussed.

  • Level 1 Sighted Guiding Training

    At Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life we are co-ordinating another Level I Sighted Guiding Training session. We have new VVS volunteers attending, plus some museum volunteers will be attending as well as some from other voluntary sector organisations locally, but if there's anyone you know of who's interested in attending please let us know.

  • Pinhoe Ladies Talk

    Nanette Bolton one of our Resource Centre Advisers will be visiting the Pinhoe Ladies Club to give a presentation on Devon in Sight and some of the resources that are available to the Visually Impaired. 

    She will take a selection of items that are available to the Visually Impaired and demonstrate these items and show how we can help the Visually Impaired to live independently in the community.

  • Disabled Archery

    Brixham College Indoor Sports Hall/Leisure Centre

    Based at Brixham College Indoor Sports Hall/Leisure Centre, the Club is holding an Open Day on Sunday 2nd February from 12.30am till 14.30pm.

    Refreshmentrs will be available and you will have the chance to try your hand, whatever the Disability, at hitting the Archery Roundals.

    This taster is aimed at introducing the Sport to many who never thought they would ever get the chance to play, and it is hoped that people will join the Club and enjoy lower prices for sessions in the future, or just call in and pay a higher day rate when the Club meets every fortnight.

  • Coffee Morning at South Brent and District Caring

    The Old School Community Centre, Totnes Road, South Brent

    Amanda Woolley our Resource Centre Adviser from Totnes will attend a Coffee morning at South Brent and District Caring at 10-12am on Monday 31st March at the Old School Community Centre, Totnes Road, South Brent TQ10 9BP. 

    She  will be at the coffee morning to give an informal demonstration of equipment and information about Devon in Sight and our services for people with a visual impairment.

  • Presentation at Tavistock Macular Group

    The Anchorage Centre Tavistock

    Grahame Flynn one Operations Manager will be visiting the Tavistock Macular Group to give a presentation on Devon in Sight.

    He will show how we support the Visually Impaired to live independently in the community and will also demonstrate a range of equipment that is available in our Resource Centre in Topsham that helps the Visually Impaired to adjust to their Sight Loss.


  • Devon in Sight Low Vision Services in South Devon

    On Tuesday 15 April 10-11am Amanda Woolley our Resource Centre Adviser at Totnes, is hosting a talk at Optima Low Vision Clinic for the volunteers of Totnes Caring to let them know about Devon in Sight and the services available for those with low vision in South Devon. 

  • Bideford Macular Society Viewing Resource Centre

    Mr Strawson from The Bideford Macular Society is going to bring a group of around 15 visually Impaired people to view our Resource Centre and to look at some of the resources that are available to them.

  • Next Book Club Meeting

    The next Book Club meeting is on Thursday 10th July at The Hayridge, Cullompton.

    The book of the month is The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seierstad.

    It's set in Afghanistan so is quite topical and has received good reviews.

  • Brixham Blind and VI Club Garden BBQ

    Heather & Richard Montgomery's beautiful Garden in Brixham,

    Live Music will again feature, together with the excellent BBQ, and all are welcome.

    Tickets at £5 per person must be purchased from me before the day in order to arrange catering, and a good raffle will be featured as last year.

     Please bring Wine or Beers/Soft Drinks, otherwise many cups of tea/Coffee and juice will be available!

     This is our major Fundraiser for the year so please support us by coming along, and bring family and friends if you wish.

  • Living with Sight Loss Experience Day

    As part of National Eye Health Week  we are holding a Living with Sight Loss Experience Day at our Resource Centre.

    This open day is an oppurtunity for the sighted population to come and find out what we do and to discover the challenges that people with sight loss are facing.

    It will be a chance to discover what we supply  in the way of equipment and training to help people adjust to their sight loss.
