Community Sighted Guiding Training

Community Sighted Guiding Training

After a visit to the Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life by the Mid Devon Volunteer Visiting Service in the Autumn of last year feedback was given to the Museum staff regarding the helpfulness of having sighted guides available at the museum.

As a direct result of this feedback, a mixture of six staff members and volunteers at the museum attended and hosted a community sighted guiding training by Guide Dogs for the Blind in early February. A further two museum volunteers are planning on attending the next training session in early April which means that Tiverton Museum is a very accessible and people friendly place to visit for people with a sight loss.

We applaud their commitment to making the museum more accessible and look forward to future visits.
