TORBAY MAYOR, SIGNS UP FOR “JUMP FOR SIGHT” AFTER LEAVING HIS CIVIC ROLE TO SUPPRT DEVON IN SIGHT CENTENERY YEAR.

Cllr Mark Spacagna, The current civic Mayor of Torbay has pledged to “Jump for Sight” in support of people living with the challenges of sight loss on a daily basis. Cllr Spacagna, who finishes his Mayoral term in mid May has committed to supporting Devon in Sight during the charity’s centenary year in 2025. Established as Devon County Association for the Blind in 1925 the charity is holding a number of events during the centenary year including a tandem sky dive on Saturday 5th July, 2025 which Cllr Spacagna is taking the plunge to participate in.

At a recent Living Well With Sight Loss event Mark said, “This event made me very aware of the difficulties those living with little or no vision come across on a daily basis and the equipment and services that are available to help and maintain independence. Personally I want to support the work Devon in Sight does to help those living with these challenges maintain their independence. I challenge anyone to come and join me in this amazing, once in a lifetime, event.”

Mandy Darling, Community Engagement Officer for the Charity said, “It is people like Cllr Spacagna that make a real positive impact on the lives of those living with little or no sight, their families, carers and friends right across Devon. Our services include areas such as advice and guidance, health and wellbeing and influencing change. If you feel you can join Mark in his “Jump for Sight” and really make a positive impact on the lives of those with sight loss across Devon then do get in touch mandy@devoninsight.org.uk or call 01392 878 804.
