Louise joined Devon in Sight in July 2023 as a Sight Loss Adviser.
Louise has been working with visually impaired students in secondary mainstream education for over 17 years. She has overseen their education, developed their independence and confidence, supported their mental health and wellbeing, and helped educate peers and staff around sight loss in the process.
After spending so much time in the education system Louise was looking for a new challenge and spent 6 months as a call taker for Devon and Cornwall Police. This was a very challenging and enjoyable role but Louise felt that the level of help she could invest was too small and began to look for a new challenge that would merge these two careers.
Louise said, “I am delighted to be joining the Devon in Sight team. I am joining the charity at an exciting time as it is looking to develop services for young people transitioning into adult services”.
