Mid Devon Messenger is expanding their Services

IS LISTENING EASIER THAN READING?

…it certainly is if you’re sight impaired, and it may well be so for people who find it difficult to read because of a medical condition, for example Parkinson’s Disease.

If you know someone who is struggling to read, the Mid Devon Messenger can offer listening alternatives. We want everyone to feel connected with their community while also having a chance to lose themselves in a good audio book!

The Mid Devon Messenger can keep people in Mid Devon connected by providing weekly recordings of local news, interviews, stories, quizzes and entertainment. Working in collaboration with Calibre Audio, we also offer audio books. The service is entirely free of charge.

If a member of your family, or a friend, struggles to read or decipher print due to one of the following conditions, we are here to help:

Sight impairment or blindness
A learning disability such as Dyslexia
A brain injury or cognitive impairment such as head trauma or stroke
Difficulties with physical dexterity caused by Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, arthritis, paralysis or terminal illness
Our aim is to get people connected and stay connected in whatever way works best for them.
