Introduction

Mandy Darling BSc (Hons)

Community Engagement and Fundraising Officer

Mandy will engage with the local community and businesses to enable them to become supporters of Devon in Sight through events and campaigns.

Mandy Darling BSc (Hons)

Mandy joined the Devon in Sight team in January 2024.

For the last 36 years Mandy has worked for the NHS in London and Devon. As her reduced vision became more challenging, she was able to take advantage of enabling services such as Access to Work and trained with a guide dog for which she is now on her fourth partnership.

Since 2015 Mandy has been a local councillor on Torbay Council where she can champion issues that affect those with sight loss.  In May 2023 she had the honour of becoming Civic Mayor of Torbay with her guide dog Pepsi being Civic Guide Dog.

As our Community Engagement & Fundraising Officer Mandy will maximise income generation by diversifying funding streams that will engage the local community and businesses to become supporters of Devon in Sight through events, campaigns and small fundraising grant applications.

Mandy said, “I am delighted to have been selected to join the Devon in Sight Team. Having lived with reducing sight since my early teens I have lived experience of the challenges that those people with sight loss come across on a day-to-day basis.  Being able to share this information with potential supporters and partners along with the vital services provided by Devon in Sight will encourage them to come on the journey with us.”
